Vera French Community Mental Health - Carol Center

“My journey began at Vera French in 2022 the first encounter when someone named ed he was my peer support guy he was so much more than that he was my friend his words healed health and directed my life to get better and I will forever be grateful for the bond is position is no longer there but he's still at Vera French we are just not working together. He was instrumental in my help with my mental illness and I am so grateful 💯 then there is Henry Roy my doctor who know how to take me from over the top to learning skills to cope with my anxiety my depression my feelings of suicide and hopelessness. And I'm forever grateful for him as well 💯 after its position was canceled I received a case manager named Michael Michael has been a shear pleasure he comes to see me in my isolation right where I'm at in the middle of all my junk and he sits with me and helps me understand the way my mind works and how to pull myself out of it he's made countless phone calls countless efforts in helping me get community actions help with bills I couldn't face or pay. He is a much lighter side of my life I've been isolated for 5 years. I have suffered so much trauma in the 5 years I've been here in Iowa. If I start thinking about it I really revert back to the thought that death is easier than life. But hear me to all of us who suffer from mental illness! We are not alone..... We have Vera French 💯💝🙏 just recently I received my first appointment with my therapist his name's Jim he's not just a psychiatrist he is a human being.... With compassion an intelligence he is able to understand how we think and what has kept us locked in the darkness for so long! He practices what he preaches he has lived by his oath of being a doctor and when people with our disabilities are being taken advantage of or mistreated buy officials whom we trust he has the integrity to let it be known to the proper authorities. For the first time in a very long time I feel safe something that had been stolen from me because I put my trust in the wrong lawyer's hands. That being said to all of us who suffer everyday in silence and in pain... Please know we are not alone there are people of their French who truly care who will do their job who will stand against the officials to make things right for us. Those of us who are vulnerable to those who have authority over us. Seek help through Vera French! Because I did... And my life is changing everyday because of people that listened people that truly cared and people who knew what it was to do what was right when it mattered the most 💯💝 I know for sure 100% that I would have taken my life in 2022 had I not been introduced tovera French ! Today I am home I am present and I'm on my way to a better me! Thanks to Vera French and all the wonderful support I've gotten from every one of them!!! We matter!! We are not a cursed to society we are not a drain on the economical system. We are human beings with real feelings and real pain that suffer in silence daily. We are also capable of recovering from a life of mental health and depression. To having some kind of normalcy when we wake up and we see the possibilities and not the Doom! Where my road leads from here is unknown out of yet. But I know I am forever grateful for the awesome doctors peer support case managers therapist that actually heard me I listen to my pain and to my concerns and who took action in my recovery to a better life 💯💝🧬 thank you Vera French from the secretaries to the peer support to the therapist to my doctor and to my case manager may God bless you and may you live a life of knowing that you helped somebody live and not die!! I am and always will be forever grateful 💯🥲”
